Eight years ago, he was a scholar under the Philippine Business for Education’s STEP UP Scholarship Program—today, he is not only the President of STEP UP – 1000TP SAN Inc., but also the inspiring School Head of LNAS Extension Farm School in Saguing, Maria, Siquijor. His journey tells a story of hope, resilience, and the power of education to transform lives. With a deep commitment to agriculture, academic excellence, youth empowerment, and community development, Mr. Mahinay has become a beacon of inspiration for both his students and colleagues. His leadership reflects the essence of this year’s Buwan ng Wika celebration, which honors not only our national language and culture but also the Filipino teacher as a modern-day hero.
Educational and Professional Journey
Mr. Mahinay’s pursuit of knowledge is as remarkable as his passion for service. He is a proud graduate of the Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of San Carlos in Cebu City, and completed his Diploma in Professional Education at Cebu Normal University. He further strengthened his leadership skills by finishing his Master of Arts in Educational Management and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration. Before embracing the teaching profession, he spent formative years as a seminarian at St. Alphonsus Collegiate Formation House, a Redemptorist Seminary in Cebu City—an experience that instilled in him the values of discipline, service, and compassion which continue to guide his vocation as an educator and leader.
